too shallow

They said, you’ll get used to this too.
Years passed;


I didn’t.

“They said, don’t fear, it’s all rehearsed.
My lines I should have studied;  

I didn’t.

All of it lingers, hazy in my mind
I never bothered with the details
Their grief was far too shallow to unwind
I never took them seriously enough to intertwine our tails
